Neil has been leading the transformation of our Global mortgage business and has done a first class job in landing a number of “game changing” digital programmes into some our our largest and more complex markets. Delivering change in this highly matrixed, complex and diverse organisation is not an easy thing to achieve, Neil has shown tremendous tenacity and resilience in delivering successful customer and business outcomes for us. In addition he has been able to significantly raise the bench strength and competence in our ability to deliver digital transformation. Neil is able to work well in the detail, but also to translate this into the bigger strategic picture and ‘cuts through’ organisational challenges to get things done. He has been a great partner for us and made a step change difference to our business.
Neil did a great job in tackling some of the strategic opportunities and challenges facing the UK Mortgage Business. Neil is very collaborative and worked as a leading player on the Mortgage Executive Committee. The key challenges Neil played a leading role in were; digital strategy including the launch of the industry award winning Barclays Homeowner app, managing the strategic investment portfolio, operations strategy and a number of control issues. If there was a problem that needed a few key people to crack, I would invariably involve Neil in helping shape the solution.
Neil played a leading role in the design and set up of the strategic governance and structure for the UK Mortgage Business. In the last 2 years, Neil has led some of the more strategic themes for the business, including; digital strategy and launching the award winning Homeowner app, the investment portfolio and planning process, developing an operations roadmap and delivering regulatory and control programmes. Neil and I worked very closely on a number of challenges and he has an engaging and collaborative style.
I worked for Neil delivering several customer migration programmes. He is a strategic thinker, drives performance and is engaging and extremely supportive. As well as operating at the strategic level, Neil is also excellent at translating this into objectives and breaking down how this will impact day to day operations.
I worked with Neil for around 3 years during which time Neil did a great job of leading the UK Retail Bank Customer Relations Teams for me. Neil’s vision for the team was “to be brilliant for customers” and it was clear when I visited the teams that this was being fully embraced by our colleagues. Neil led a significant site consolidation programme and embedded many business fundamentals to bring consistency and control to the area. Neil works very collaboratively and brought real creativity to some of the challenges the UK Retail business was facing at the time. He was a pleasure to work with.
Neil was my client at Barclays and I had the pleasure of working with him for around 2 years when he was Head of Mortgage Operations, Contact Centre & Servicing.

Neil was my Client at Barclays Bank while we provided FM Managing Agent Services to over 2,000 retail branches. During this time we developed a number of innovations such as One Call to enable the branch manager and his/ her team to focus on Customers. I enjoyed working with Neil and found him to be professional, collaborative and trustworthy with good influencing skills and focus on Customers.
I worked with Neil on the Coop Bank Mortgage outsource deal, I was the Transformation Director and Neil was Business Design / Solution director on this, together with playing a wider Capita Group and Divisional role on other deals, supporting the shaping of the business solution and Divisional strategy. Neil brought great industry insight and leadership to the deal, and was instrumental in shaping the design, the governance around the design/solution and in building the client relationship. Neil is clearly a strategic thinker and one of his key skills is being able to cut through the complexity and chaos and make things happen and drive to the right solution. He was a great asset to the leadership team.
